The other day, a co-worker of mine brought a family member into the theater I work at to play the piano here. It was quite a special moment for them, and I was very thankful I had my camera, and I was able to take a few shots to capture it for them.
“Hear that old piano…” Load-in for this weekend’s show started this morning so we’re guessing the crew is moving the Steinway into place right about now! A little more about it, from musical director and piano-player Rich Dworsky:
“The piano at the Fitz is a Steinway Model D, a 9-foot piano, the largest Steinway makes. It was purchased new in 1987. While maybe not one’s first choice for the old bar room blues piano sound, the Steinway D is a world standard for classical, jazz, and popular music performance.
